Community Outreach

Every third Wednesday of the month, the Community Outreach Committee conducts an informal, free Open Sew event prior to the monthly meeting.  These events are suitable for beginner to advanced quilters and an excellent opportunity to exchange tips and techniques to enhance your skill set.  Plan on joining other members and having fun stitching on your own project or choosing from a variety of kits in direct support of a local charity.

The Virginia Star Quilters Guild is comprised of talented quilters with big hearts and generously donates quilts and other handmade items to various charities throughout the Fredericksburg area.  In 2025, the guild donated over 750 handmade items, including 240 quilts.  We are helping our community thrive, one quilt at a time!

Our official Community Outreach activities include:

  • Heart & Soul – learn to quilt or work on a project in this open sew day
