Many of us have collected Row by Row patterns from quilt shops in the past and have not made anything with these patterns and/or kits. We have come up with a challenge, so it is time to get busy with those patterns! This year Row by Row starts on June 21st and the theme is “Sew Musical”. Many shops are already posting their patterns. Time to plan your summer road trips!
The challenge is to quilt “something useful” out of a Row by Row pattern. This can be anything your imagination can dream up. A tote bag, a growth chart, placemats, a dog bed, anything really. Yes, even a quilt is useful, so make whatever makes you happy. At the October meeting we will present our creations and vote on our favorites. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The rules: Have fun! Use ANY Row by Row pattern from any quilt shop from any year. Use any fabric and embellishments you want. It can be any size. You must use the entire pattern, not just part of it, but you can mix it up to change the shape to fit your creation.
If you are new to Row by Row, here is a little bit of history. It began in 2011 in New York State with 20 quilt stores. Today there are thousands of quilt stores participating across the US, Canada and Europe. The participating stores give out the pattern for free from June 21- September 4th and then sell it after that. Shops usually sell kits as well.
