I hope you are enjoying these warm summer days and enjoyed celebrating the Fourth of July. This celebration gives me a chance to stop and reflect on those that help to keep our freedom and independence. I also thought of those that could use a warm cuddly blanket that may give comfort.
Consider making a QOV quilt or one of our community outreach quilts. Kits are available from Billie and Linda as a take home project or to sew during our Open Sew dates. Request for quilts are coming in daily. Let’s make sure all requests are filled with the love of VSQ.
You may have heard that our traveling “Out My Window” exhibit will be traveling to Ohio. The quilts will be shown in Clark County Fair. Our guild is receiving some wonderful exposure. The Howell Library exhibit was well received. Some great prizes coming soon. New quilts can be submitted for the Virginia State Fair show. Way to go to all that are spreading the news. Thank you, Mary Ann for your continued dictation and hard work for this project.
Kudos go out to Margaret’s sister, Liz. The Elizabeth Milnes Millefiori Workshop was a success. The group was small with plenty of personal attention. The food was great and all had fun.
Our July program is about organizing and downsizing. This makes me want to clean out, from yard work to housework and even in my sewing. I dove in headfirst to make a dent to clear out some of my old UFO’s and the results are pretty amazing.
What about you? Do you have any UFOs that could use a little attention? No judgement here. When you love to sew, there’s never enough time to get it all done. A change of season (like now) is a great motivator to clean out the old to make room for the new.
Challenge yourself this week to clear out a UFO. You’ll be glad you did and can feel guilt free when grabbing materials & supplies for your next project.
